A disruption in the postal service led to many locals in Lake Zurich not receiving flyers for the yearly 'Alpine Festival' until two days after the event.
The flyer printing was to advertise a 3 day event for the 23rd-25th of July celebrating the 68th year of the Alpine Festival.
Many complaints were made the the Zurich Lions Club that hosted the event. Owners claimed that the flyer printing was sent in good time and it was no fault of their own for the late delivery.
25,000 flyers were printed and sent to residents living in Lake Zurich and surrounding area's on the 16th of July and few people received their flyers until the 27th of July. Too late to attend the event.
The postal service spokesman claimed 'This doesn't usually happen' and 'that it was a general error' they are currently looking into. The postal service normally have a 3-5 day policy for delivery which they are willing to rectify when the error is found.
Organisers claim it shouldn't have been such a big issue as flyers were not the only form of advertising used. As well as printing flyers the event was advertised in local business's and on the Lions Club website.
They also claim that people knew about the event as its a yearly tradition.
